Bio:
SaberTooth Tiger, who recently finished a record with Alex Newport called "Extinction is Inevitable," is a local LA band that doesn't sound like an LA band; more like a mix of San Diego, Portland, the East Bay, and Seattle, with some east coast shit sprinkled on for good taste.
Their record features Jon Theodore (The Mars Volta) and Erin Garcia (Brother Reade) on drums. Aaron Farley plays guitar and Chris Burnett plays bass, and both share the vocals. Dave Ferrara is on drums. Song lyrics range from the cynical to the hopeful, and at it's best, radical. With a recent 7" release on GSL (www.goldstandardlabs.com)
as a part of the Special 12 Singles Series, and an Australian split with Blacklevel Embassy, their shit is getting tight. Which is good, because their last show at Il Corral was tight balls: loud as shit, and pissed like a parking ticket recipient.
This indie band also managed to put together an awesome video, directed by Michael Grodner, for their song "Argentina," which is mostly composed of footage from the documentary "The Take," about the workers siege of the factories after the IMF/World Bank fiasco down there. The word on the street is that they are writing new songs and preparing for new shows in 2006. Check out their shit online at www.sabertoothtiger.net.
